For a lot of business owners, you are busy all year long. In this hustle of making your business run, it can be really hard to pay attention to the details of your business and how it is being run.
I am a firm believer that a business without a clear vision is not going to go far. A vision is going to guide the work you do – it’s what’s going to help you move forward. A vision you had last year or even last quarter might not be the same vision that you need to move you forward now.
There is something to be said about having a clear and fresh vision. If you’re overworked or burned out, this can lead to lack of vision and keeping you stuck from reaching your goals.
So, how do you keep a clear mind and focus on your top priorities?
DELEGATE
Not releasing control and delegating in your business is the NUMBER 1 roadblock that doesn’t allow you to focus on YOUR zone of genius and reach your biggest boldest goals.
While it’s good to know every nook and cranny of your business, it doesn’t serve you to have the be-all, do-all attitude. You CANNOT do every little thing that your business demands and be everything to everyone.
Point? You need to delegate. Period.
And when you do that? You’ll see MORE growth in your business and have MORE freedom in your life than you could ever imagine.
GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY
When you try to get involved in every last detail of your business, you lose focus. And when you lose focus?
- You’re not clear on where you are going and why.
- Instead of getting a high return on (your team) investment, you end up putting in more hours and reduce your overall ROI.
There are two things you MUST know:
- TRUST – Create a friendly, trustworthy and collaborative atmosphere rather than concerning yourself with little tasks, micromanaging and having your hands full all the time.
- PERFORMANCE TRACKING – You cannot have low-performing employees dragging down your business. With performance tracking, you will clearly know how your staff is performing and where exactly the leak is.
HIRE THE RIGHT PEOPLE
You need to delegate to be more productive, creative and profitable, right? While on the other hand, if you hire the wrong people, you’re back to square one.
So, what do you do?
The first step is to ask yourself the following three important questions to attract, hire and train the right candidate.
- What do you absolutely love, enjoy and excel at?
- What things do you not get to do? Think about the things on your to-do list that get carried over from day-to-day or week-to-week and just never seem to get done (either because of lack of time or skill/knowledge gap).
- What things do you wish you knew how to do, but don’t have the time to learn right now?
Now that you know what you are good at, what you don’t like, and what you don’t have the time to do … focus on your superpower, and find the relevant people to help you get things done and scale your business!
PUT SYSTEMS IN PLACE
Just like we human beings need values, principles and a routine to live by, your business needs practices, structures and processes to operate.
In simpler words?
Your business has to have SYSTEMS that define, facilitate and optimize performance, user interaction and results.
You cannot run various parts of your business individually and expect to scale as a WHOLE.
Your business is one BIG system where every part should run like a well-oiled machine, taking your profits and impact to greater heights.
Furthermore, the way you treat, represent and operate your business says a lot about YOU, how committed you are to your vision & goals, and your business longevity.
MAKE GOOD DECISIONS
The whole reason to have a business of your own is to be your own boss, create your own set of rules, and have unparalleled income & impact.
And to achieve all of the above? You gotta know what’s going on in your business, what your numbers are and what decisions to make to grow your business by leaps and bounds.
And why, as a leader, a business owner, and a CEO, you end up making the wrong decisions?!
Due to lack of clarity.
And lack of clarity comes with:
